What does a fully public White Stadium rebuild look like?
We still time to envision a fully pubic White Stadium at a fraction of the cost of the current plan and without the compromises, headaches and restrictions.
The BOS Legacy team acknowledged they need more time to rebuild White Stadium and they are moving their 2026 games to Gillette Stadium. In the meantime, we have seen cost estimates for the rebuild escalate from $5M to $20M to $30 to $91M with new reporting that the costs could climb as high as $172M just for the taxpayers half of the construction!
A fully public option would cost a fraction of this $200M+ estimate and not include the negative impacts that the private-public proposal. We want White Stadium rebuilt for the BPS schoolchildren and the community. We don’t need professional sports teams with their beer gardens, luxury boxes, merch stores, and Jumbotrons. Give us a beautiful, well constructed stadium with spaces for the students and community and they can keep their traffic gridlocks, pollution, restrictions, and parking permits. Our kids and our community deserve better.
